Market Policy

I. Vendor Display and Signage

a. It is the responsibility of individual vendors to maintain a clean and safe condition within their assigned area.

b. Products should be displayed on a clean, presentable tablecloth, with excess clutter hidden away from the display area.

c. Vendors should have a clearly visible sign designating the name of their farm/business.

d. Vendors are required to label all products (excluding unprocessed agricultural products) according to the Georgia Department of Agriculture regulations.

e. All vendors are required to have their own tent and display set-up. Tents must always be safely secured in case of an unexpected weather event. A weight should be securely attached to each tent leg.

f. All vendors must remove trash from their tent space at the close of each market.

g. All tents must be clean and in good working condition.

h. Under no circumstance can signage be placed between the street and the sidewalk. This is public right of way. Signs should remain ONLY in front of the vendor’s designated area. Signs outside of this area will be taken down and will not be returned to the vendor.

II. Market operations

a. All Market participants are responsible for ensuring that their staff and representatives follow market policies at all times.

b. Vendors who wish to bring their children are responsible for ensuring that the children do not disrupt the operation of the market or other participants.

c. Vendors may not bring animals with them while selling at the market.

d. Vendors are not allowed to play music at any time during market operation hours.

e. No vendor shall sublease, sell, or permit anyone to use his/her space.

f. No smoking in vendor space or anywhere in designated market area.

g. Vendors are required to anonymously report their earnings to market staff each week. This information helps provide quantitative data regarding the market required in many grant applications.

h. Vendors may bring vehicles into the market area to unload. Unless special permission has been granted, all vehicles must be out of the designated area by 7:45am.

i. Vendors may park in any public parking spaces outside of the Market area that aren’t reserved for our breakfast section.

III. Local Product Exemptions

a. Our priority is supporting local farmers; therefore, the resell of agricultural products by producers/vendors is rarely permitted. However, from time to time, a vendor may request a provisional sales arrangement to sell produce that is not feasibly grown in our locale.

b. Resell arrangements are only granted when a customer demand for the product has been identified and the product or sufficient quantities of the product are not currently available at the market.

c. If a vendor requests to resell a product from another Georgia farm, the vendor must send an email request to the CFM Board of Directors: hello@cartersvillefarmersmarket.com for a provisional sales arrangement. This request must include the Georgia farm’s name, address, phone number, and photos of the farm and produce plants. If the board decides to approve this request, the farms are subject to inspection.

d. The request must be submitted at least two weeks prior to intended sale of the product.

e. If product is approved, the resell items must be sold with a sign clearly displayed stating that it is a Georgia Grown item and the name of the location where the product was grown/produced.
